3.5 Stars The Gathering is Book One of the Darkest Power series. In this novel, the main character Maya loved her life – though it may have seem strange to an outsider – she wouldn’t trade places with anyone else. She liked living in her tiny secluded village, being outdoors, and even living with the free roaming wild animals. Others may be afraid of the mountain lions there, but not Maya. They seemed to communicate with her, and Maya had a magical, healing touch with all of the creatures. Sure, it may be boring at times where she lived, but Maya and her small group of friends always found ways to have fun. Maya hoped things stayed this way, forever.
Everything soon changes, though, when Serena dies. Maya cannot understand how her best friend, captain of the swim team, could have drowned. Why couldn’t Maya have saved her? If that wasn’t enough, some reporter in town kept following Maya and her friends around….asking prying questions about their parents, their lives, and Serena’s death. Who exactly was the new hot guy Rafe? Did he really have feelings for her? Or was he looking for something else?
Suddenly Maya begins to realize there were so many secrets, some dangerous and deadly, that had been and still were hidden from her. Even the reader begins to wonder who can Maya actually trust??
Great start to a new series – but overall, too many questions left unanswered for my reading tastes!

I didn’t like this book as much as other animal books. Maya has a dark secret that i didn’t quite understand. If you love wild animals try it out. I think cat lovers would like it also. She lives in the midle of no were. I think she likes the other boy. DO YOU? Blog what you think. Am I wrong not to like the book?

The Gathering is about a girl named Maya and she has this power of healing animals and having the instincts of a cougar. She has a friend named Daniel who is very protective of her and a boyfriend named Rafe who has the same powers as her. Later on in the book some deaths occur that will have them digging for answers about the Shift and their parents. I would recommended this book to anybody who loves to read about natural powers.

The Gathering is a wonderful book about a girl named Maya and she has an abnorlma healing power to heal animals. She also has the instincts of a cougar. She also has a boyfriend named Rafe that has the same powers as her and understands how she feels and a friend named Daniel that is very protective of her and will do anything for her. It seams the Daniel is a better match for her than Rafe is. Am i wrong? Read the book to find out.

She also meets a very special boy at her school named Rafe. But he then tells her that he has the same powers as her. They then solve mysteries to try find more information about who they are. Then Rafe tells Maya something that is also chilling to her. Read the book to find what other secret Rafe is going to tell her.

The Gathering is a rather interesting book, if Native American witchcraft/magic and suspense is your thing. Maya at first wonders why she can heal animals within days, as well as why cougars are suddenly being attracted to her and her family. She meets a boy named Rafe, who, after quite some time, tells her that he has been looking for a girl like him- who ends up being Maya. He tells her that he, his sister and her have powers where they can Shift into mountain lions/cougars. Rafe tells her that he still needs more answers and so he leaves, promising to return. He returns, but in a way you might never suspect. Read the book to find out how!

The Gathering is a really good book. It is about a girl named Maya who has a secret that SHE just found out about. She has an abnormal power to heal animals and to shift into a cougar. She got hooked on the new boy in town and they are now dating. It turns out, that the new boy, Rafe, has the same powers as her. Mayas bestfrien, Daniel, is very protective of her and would do almost anything for her. I think Rafe is the perfect match for her but other people think Daniel would be. A few deaths occur, leading people to act suspisious about how many cougar encounters are happening lately. A horrible wildfire has started which leads to chaos. Maya, Daniel, and Rafe are trapped in the woods with the fire fast approaching. Will they make it out alive? Read the book to find out.

This is a pretty cool book and I loved it alot! It fits well with Kelly Armstrong’s other series and it has a good plot, and plenty of details. Daniel and Rafe pretty much go head to head trying to protect Maya, and other characters (especially the girs) are trying to befriend Rafe. My favorite part is dicovering that the mysterious cougar who has been hanging around Maya is actually Rafe’s sister, Annie. I also love when the forest fire starts, and Maya, Daniel, and Rafe have to work together to get out. This would be a good book for anyone who likes shape-shifting, witchcraft, and animals.
